What is Mother's Day? What is Father's Day?
by Norman Moody

Why is one day more special than the other for the rest of the year?

Honoring our mother and father should be done every day. Not just with gifts, but with respect and true love.

Remember, we chose our parents. Yes, there may be things we do not like about our parents, however, it is the actions of our parents, not the parents themselves that are ok to like or not like.

You must earn your parents' respect.

And, love should be unconditional.

Shouldn't every day be special for mothers and wives?

Aren't you important every day and not just one day?

Remember, that you are just as equal to the husband, boyfriend or man.

Your role as a mother is the most honorable responsibility. You as a mother will always be loved unconditionally by your child/children.

However, you must earn their respect. You can't say "You will respect me".

Remember mothers, your children chose you to be their mother.

It doesn't take a lot to make a child. However, it takes a special person to be a parent.

As you carry the baby in your womb, the baby is trusting you for protection and nurturing. You, as a mother must not violate that baby's trust by using and abusing the mind, body, or spirit.

Remember as the children grow up, you have been given this awesome responsibility.

Let your children respect you as well as love you.

REMEMBER, THE WAY YOUR CHILDREN RESPECT OR DISRESPECT YOU IS YOUR CHOICE!

What is a Father?
By Allison Marshall

A father is traditionally the parent who provides the money for the family. The father works hard. The father is the authority figure. Now, times have changed. A father shares with the mother the authority, work, and earning the money needed.

A father's role has changed. Sometimes, a father finds himself a single parent.

A father, no matter what, should be the wind beneath a child's wings. A father needs to be a teacher, a mentor, and most important of all, a parent. A father doesn't need to be a child's best friend. A father needs to be the parent who shows the child what is right and what is wrong. A father should be able to laugh at himself and help his children to laugh. It's ok for a father to cry. It shows that the father has compassion.

A father doesn't have to be a "macho man". A father doens't have to be rich. A father can be rich in the love for his children and from his children.

To show a child that he's done something wrong, a father doesn't have to use his fists. Life is a learning experience. If a father uses his fists on a child, he is teaching that child to use his fists on his future children.

To use compassion, kindness, understanding, patience, and discipline without fists, will teach and help the child. A father will gain the respect and love from that child.

Remember, any man can help create a child. It takes a real man to be a father.
