The practice of Reiki can be likened to the transference of energy by a transformer. A transformer draws energy from one place and channels it to another. A Reiki Practitioner performs in a similar manner using their hands as "conductors". Reiki is an ancient healing art, which has its roots in Tibet. It compliments and intertwines with other forms of healing, conventional or otherwise. Many hospitals encourage their nurses to be trained in Reiki in order to offer the benefits to their patients. People from all walks of life are Reiki practitioners, from nurses to bartenders, to construction workers. The only requirement for becoming a trained Reiki Practitioner, is true desire to do so.
