The Story of Energy Exchange
10 / 05 / 05 ~ 12:12 pm

Through time and history, individuals have always possessed unique gifts, talents and abilities. In ancient days those talents were used to assist others. Each individual exchanged their gifts with others for the good of the whole. In those times food and clothing was traded as well as gifts of healing, teaching, building and other labor. Each offered what they could that all would survive in the community. Then there came a time when there were those who had gifts that seemed greater than others. Differences arose and those with seeming greater gifts became more powerful and others paid homage to the powerful ones, who grew in respect and sometimes in fear. Their ego grew and they began to use their great powers to control others.

So, the pendulum shifted… wars ensued over power and control and the exchange of goods was replaced by the circumstances surrounding war. As men went off to fight for the powerful ones, they were granted coins in trade for their days of servitude. Upon their return home, the coins would be traded to the powerful one in exchange for land and goods to live by. Hence, the control shifted from those with great powers to those with greater amounts of coins. Those with more coins became powerful… the ones paid homage to and sometimes feared for their ability to control.

...as we exchange our gifts, even through friendships, might we simply ask what would be best for the dear friend at that time… "Would you prefer money or rather receive something special that I have to offer?" We honor them by allowing their choice.

At this moment in humanity, it is time to achieve balance. Today, we live in a society where certain things must be purchased with coins in order to exist… things like clothing and food and housing and gas are often available for monetary exchange only. Other gifts such as healing, counseling, energy balancing and herbal medicines can often be available through energy exchange, trade or barter among friends. Some individuals retain their historic fear of coins based upon ancient memories in their soul, cellular or energetic systems. Once we realize that coins are simply one method of energy exchange among many… we can and must release our historic attachment to the control dynamics of money.

In today's world, there are those whose gift is the ability to create large amounts of money. Others have gifts which in the past were considered spiritual and were not supposed to amass quantities of coin - vows of poverty were taken in not-so-olden times.

If we are to achieve balance… every soul gives of their unique gifts at a specific moment in time, honoring that moment to moment, change happens. Thus we create harmony as we support the energies of the all. Therefore, if it feels appropriate for you to offer someone money in trade for a kind service… do so, if you have the money to give. You may never know that the offering you give with love may cause the other to be able to provide a special meal for her children that she otherwise would have to do without. Or your dear friend may be able to pay for the oil to heat the family home, which might have been a real struggle for them. Therefore, the love gift of money is special to that friend at that moment in time. And time shifts from moment to moment.

If your insight causes you to offer a gift of energy exchange with a dear friend, offering a special herbal remedy for instance, one that they may have never considered asking for, do so. We never know when that special gift is exactly what that individual needs at that moment in time, a gift which may make a significant difference in the outcome of their life.

If we consider that all methods of energy exchange should come from love… that sharing gifts from the heart IS always love… then, reiki is love, herbal remedies are love and yes… money is love. As long as the intention is coming from love and not from an ability to dominate or control, all methods of exchange are to be honored as love. And all expressions of love should be responded to with heartfelt appreciation and gratitude.

This is the basic premise of the Guardians of the Rose network… give what you can in exchange for service. Those who have much money may well give even more than requested. Those who have talents and gifts may wish to give of their gifts to better another. Those who seem to have nothing to offer always have an ability to do something for someone… thus the attitude of "Pay what you can… or pay it forward."

In paying it forward, one discovers that they DO have gifts and talents to offer. That even the least among us can make a difference for someone. It is extremely empowering to assist and contribute in some way, knowing that each energy shift affects us all. We are all one in Humanity. As we each provide what we can on a personal level at each moment in time… we are contributing to our own soul growth and the growth of the whole. Through taking responsibility for the self, helping as we might, we never know when we have bettered the path of another on our journey… that is part of the magic and the mystery.

Therefore, as we exchange our gifts, even through friendships, might we simply ask what would be best for the dear friend at that time… "Would you prefer money or rather receive something special that I have to offer?" We honor them by allowing their choice. We never know which will make the greatest difference, cause the greatest impact, and provide the most significant benefit for another… unless we ask! And, we must honor that all gifts when given in love are equal to the other… even money!

I must give much credit to the book "Money is Love" by my dear friend, Barbara Wilder.
